On the wall of my office is a black and white photograph of the iconic post office in Seaside, Florida. It is literally one my favorite pieces of architecture. It thows off the robes of traditional government building. It is small. It is a piece of one of my favorite places on this planet.

We spent a couple of wonderful days in Seaside this past weekend. I started visiting when I was a Junior in college and I keep going back.

I remember very clearly about ten years ago visiting with several very close friends. One day during the visit, we spent several hours on the beach and came in to get cleaned up before dinner. I had taken a shower and was air drying (in a towel) on the balcony overlooking the Gulf. I could hear my friends laughing inside and knew that all was right with the world.

Over this past weekend, I had a very similar experience. After spending a day by the pool and counting how many times I heard "Dad, watch this!", I was again in a towel waiting to get dressed to go meet a good friend of ours for dinner. I could hear my beautiful wife and kids laughing and talking. I flashed back to that visit in Seaside ten years earlier and was grateful that again, all was right with the world.

It is good to have a place that does that for you.
